It was thumbs up for ice cream on 3rd July, when the Friends of St. Margaret’s once again brought the treat to the Epping hospital site. It was their way of thanking all the NHS staff for their work for the local community.
This gift was first made in 2023 when the 75th anniversary of the birth of the National Health was celebrated with ice creams – for all the NHS staff in the Mental Health Unit and Epping Forest Unit. Then there were long queues of very happy people, looking forward to a summer cooler; the gift was repeated in 2024 – and this July the happy queues came again to choose the treats on offer.

The Friends were delighted to welcome the new Chair of Epping Forest District Council, Louise Mead and her consort – her daughter Daisy Mae. Louise has chosen the hospital’s League of Friends as one of the two charities she will support during her term in office – the other being the Debden Food Bank.
As she herself enjoyed an ice cream, Louise spent a considerable time talking to nurses, doctors, therapists, an ambulance team and a range of other NHS staff about their work.
